SawStop’s founder, Dr. Steve Gass, was just a physicist who loved woodworking. However, one day he thought, what if there was a way to immediately stop a table saw’s blade from spinning before an accident happened? In 2000, Gass developed this new technology, which featured a blade that could stop spinning in milliseconds upon contact with the skin. Since TTS Tooltechnic Systems picked them up in 2017, they’ve kept pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when you combine German engineering precision with American safety innovation.
