It's ready to cook right out of the box and stays ready, not rusty, use after use. Weber® Slate® cooktops are made differently than other griddles. The carbon steel gets transformed under extreme heat and pressure, which causes hardening and bonding of the surface, reducing the ability for moisture to collect and rust to form. It is then pre-seasoned with food-safe oils that condition the metal for an extra boost of rust resistance and a natural, easy-release cooking surface right out of the box. No use of coatings means you can use metal tools to flip, press, and scrape without worry. It reaches over 500°F and heats evenly for consistently cooked food across the cooktop. Plus, adjustable feet let you level the griddle on uneven surfaces, and an expandable stand (sold separately) makes the Slate® Tabletop Griddle perfect for using at home, camping, tailgating, and more.
