How do you determine the diameter of the file you need

Hi Dean. The file diameter all depends on the chainsaw chain pitch.

  1. 1/4" pitch chain: 1/8" (Extra Small)
  2. 3/8" Pitch Low Profile / Picco: 5/32" (Small)
  3. .325" pitch chain: 3/16" (Medium)
  4. 3/8" pitch chain (Stihl brand): 13/64" (Medium/Large)
  5. 3/8" pitch chain (Standard) & .404" pitch chain: 7/32" (Large)
