Ready to operate in first 75 degree day. Cannot unwind hose on two Ames hose carts. Wheel is jammed on both carts?

Hello, thank you for your comment. Here are some initial suggestions to clear the jammed wheel.


To unjam your Ames hose reel, turn off the water, fully pull out the hose, and relieve the pressure by spraying the nozzle. If it's a manual crank reel, check for overlapping layers, debris, or a locking mechanism that is set to tight.


Common Fixes for Jammed Hose Reels

  1. Release Water Pressure: Turn off the faucet and squeeze the spray nozzle until the hose is completely empty. Trapped water adds pressure, which binds the reel mechanism.
  2. Completely Unwind: Pull the entire length of the hose out of the reel. This clears internal tangles and forces the hose to realign properly on the drum.
