Does this jig work on stepped exterior jambs

Hi Robert. The Porter Cable 59381 Hinge Butt Template Kit does not directly accommodate stepped or rabbeted exterior jambs out of the box, as its alignment pins and flat clamping/reference surfaces assume a standard, flat rectangular jamb edge profile. To use it on a stepped exterior jamb, you must modify how the jig registers against the profile, typically by shimming or building up the lower step of the jamb with a matching flat piece of wood so the template rails sit level and true.
