You probably don’t worry about a water pump until your basement is flooded. While the TEMCo TH1712 is useful for stock tanks, pools and other water-transfer jobs, it can also help remove standing water during a basement emergency.
By then, you need to move a lot of water, and you need to move it fast. Well, here is your new best friend, the TEMCo TH1712. While it's useful for stock tanks, pools, and other water-transfer jobs, it can also help remove standing water during a basement emergency.
Powered by a Drill You Already Own
The TEMCo TH1712 connects to a standard cordless drill and can move up to 160 gallons per minute, or 9,600 gallons per hour. For the best performance, TEMCo recommends using a drill capable of at least 2,000 RPM.
That means your DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita or another compatible drill can become the power source for a high-flow transfer pump. The drill is sold separately, but you are not locked into a specific battery platform.
Where Could You Use It?
This pump can help remove or transfer water from:
- Flooded basements and low areas
- Horse troughs and stock tanks
- Swimming pools and hot tubs
- Boats and underground vaults
- Rain barrels and cisterns
- Aquariums and other water-filled containers
Unlike smaller pumps intended only for clean water, the TH1712 is designed to handle dirty water containing mud, leaves and other debris without clogging. That makes it useful around farms, jobsites, pools and properties where the water may not be perfectly clean.
Portable and Ready to Work
The pump weighs in at 7.7 pounds and includes a 6-foot discharge hose, so it is easy to store in a garage, shop, truck or equipment shed. When water needs to be moved, connect your drill, position the pump and get to work.
Since there is no dedicated motor, you do not have to maintain another gas engine or remember to charge a separate battery. TEMCo also manufactures the pump in Texas and backs it with a one-year limited warranty.
What You Should Know
The advertised 160 GPM is a maximum flow rate. Actual performance can vary depending on your drills speed, water conditions, hose placement and the height the water must travel.
This is also a manually operated transfer pump, not a replacement for an automatic sump pump. Always keep the cordless drill dry and follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions when working around water.
Is It Worth Having?
Water problems do not normally give you much warning. The TEMCo TH1712 provides a simple way to turn a cordless drill you already own into a powerful water-moving tool.
You may not need it every day. When you do need it, though, you will be glad it is sitting in your shop.
