Shop Fox D3790 Deluxe Lathe Chisel Set, 5-Pc. One of the nicest 5-piece lathe chisel sets you’ll find anywhere. The D3790 5-Piece Lathe Chisel Set features beautiful black walnut handles that are contoured to fit your hands in any position. The high-speed steel (HSS) blades hold their edges for producing continuous ribbons of wood. HSS has been heat treated for hardness and wear resistance, which keeps a sharp edge longer than other carbon steels. All HSS chisels will require regular sharpening. 8" bench grinders are recommended to maintain the proper curve on the bevel. In addition to the grinder, diamond plates will help in honing the edge of your tools in between each sharpening. The spindle gouges are known for fine shaping; especially beads and coves. The different sized gouges shape different sized beads and coves. The parting tool can cover long sections of a cutting surface quickly. Known for reducing edges and clearing space before beads or bevels get cut in. They also are used to part off support pieces. The set includes a fitted aluminum case. You won’t be disappointed at this set. Like all Shop Fox chisels, the D3790 comes with a 1-year warranty which assures the set is free from factory defects.
