The Makita® XGT® 40 Volts max 4.0 Ah battery and charger starter pack is built to provide optimum performance output by charging completely in less than 45 minutes. Designed with a sturdy outer case, shock-absorbing inner liner, and built-in cooling system for enhanced durability and long-lasting life. The XGT® digital communication safeguards the device from overload, over-discharge, and overheating, thus making this tool perfect for use in heavy-load applications. The XGT® multi-layer contact interface and sturdy rails construction make sure that tools and batteries are continuously delivering optimum power output even on high-current demands. It comes with 4 bright green LED indicators that help you check the charging level. The XGT® rapid charger has a battery cooling dual-fan design and an in-built chip with a digital display for charge level indication.

Is my Makita battery compatible with all Makita battery-powered products?

Makita batteries are compatible within each respective battery platform. 40V max XGT® batteries are fully compatible with XGT® products (including 80V (40V max X2) XGT® products powered by two 40V max XGT® batteries). The XGT® System includes 40V max 2.5Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah, and 8.0Ah batteries.

What is the warranty on batteries and chargers?

Every Makita® Lithium-Ion Tool, Battery, and Charger is warranted to be free of defects from workmanship and materials for the period of THREE YEARS from the date of original purchase.

Can I overcharge a battery?

No, Makita chargers are designed so that they will not overcharge a Lithium-Ion battery. For example, the Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (DC18RC) communicates with Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries to detect its charge level. Upon reaching a full charge, the charger goes into a maintenance mode and actively monitors the battery's charge level to keep it fully charged.

Do you have to condition a brand new Makita Lithium-Ion battery before using it?

No. Makita recommends simply charging a brand new battery to a full charge before using it.
