Is my Makita battery compatible with all Makita battery-powered products?

Makita batteries are compatible within each respective battery platform. 18V LXT® batteries are fully compatible with LXT® products (including 36V (18V X2) LXT® products powered by two 18V LXT® batteries). The LXT® System includes 18V 1.5Ah, 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah, and 6.0Ah batteries.

What is the warranty on batteries and chargers?

Every Makita® Lithium-Ion Tool, Battery, and Charger is warranted to be free of defects from workmanship and materials for the period of THREE YEARS from the date of original purchase.

Can I overcharge a battery?

No, Makita chargers are designed so that they will not overcharge a Lithium-Ion battery. For example, the Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (DC18RC) communicates with Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries to detect its charge level. Upon reaching a full charge, the charger goes into a maintenance mode and actively monitors the battery's charge level to keep it fully charged.

Do you have to condition a brand new Makita Lithium-Ion battery before using it?

No. Makita recommends simply charging a brand new battery to a full charge before using it.
