Customer Reviews
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Keyless 4486 chuck How about casting a hex portion on the chuck in between or above the knurled portions. That way when the chuck tightens itself a little too tight you may be able to use just a little bit of leverage applied by the collet key wrench that come with the Dremel kit. I have had keyless chuck battery operated drill that have had similar problems. It is more than a little annoying when it happens. Figure incorporate this solution and I would change my rating

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second chuck to seize I had previously replaced the chuck that came with the tool after it had seized up and no amount of effort could free it. Now the replacement chuck has also seized up. I use my Dremel tool occasionally so it's not as if I had worn these components out. Now I hesitate to buy a replacement chuck. There must be a reason for all the issues seen here with this item. I always hand tighten so now I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a great accessory In my opinion, making this a 'wrench free' product is a BIG mistake. I had a cutting disc fly out of the chuck after tightening it by hand. I am not a weak person and tightened it as much as posssible. After tightening with a wrench it was fine and worked OK. I would recommend the product but NOT as 'wrench free'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different I bought this yesterday even though the reviews were mostly negative I think they don't understand how it works. Most chucks are in two pieces. This one relies on the threaded shaft to close the jaws when you screw the in and open them when you unscrew it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design. Seriously flawed Just bought this today and am really disappointed as to tighten it onto the dremel it will tighten the jaws so tight that when you go to open the jaws it then loosens it off the dremel it is a vicious cycle and I see no use in having it. Have went into forums and many people have almost been hurt from it coming off or throwing the bit. Would never reccomend to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the only one One of the these came with my Model 395 years ago. When I started having problems with it, I found that the jaws back down directly on the motor shaft, and were gouging the end of the shaft. Unless they have corrected this since then, it should not be used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from same problem as others I bought this a couple months ago and really needed it to speed up my work. It was ok for a very short time, then as I was drilling the grip would loosen up and the bit would fall out (if I was able to slow it down quickly enough and saw that it was loosening--otherwise it would fly out). Then I would try to adjust it and it would seize up. This slowed me down so much. Finally I'd get it off, but it was a huge effort getting a bit back in and tighten it. It was a vicious cycle, so I just gave up. If it had worked, it would have been great, so now I've given up on this "time-saving" device.:(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Chuck chucks shafts Have been using a chuck on my 285 but it finally gave up the grip. Now it starts out tight but after a short time it loosens and the shaft flies out and zings around the room. I guess these things wear but I'm disappointed that it didn't last longer.
