Cleaning tools are used in all trades to clean up after projects or jobs. Common cleaning tools are brooms, buckets, mops, dustpans, rags, scrub brushes, and squeegees.

Brooms and Dustpans

Brooms are primarily used to sweep dry debris into a pile and then into a dustpan. A dustpan is used to transport the debris to a trash receptacle. Different types of brooms include standard, corn, push, and angle. Standard brooms are the most popular style and are great for small indoor spaces. Corn brooms, also known as straw brooms, is the older version of standard brooms. They are good everyday brooms, but they do have some drawbacks. Corn brooms aren't fantastic for collecting dust, and they do tend to lose bristles every now and again. Push brooms are ideal for cleaning larger spaces like a garage floor or shop. They feature a large head which covers more area, quicker. Lastly, the angle broom is similar to standard brooms, but they have angled bristles. They are ideal for small jobs with corners and tight spaces.

Mops, Buckets, and Rags

Mops are primarily used to clean up wet messes, but there are also dust mops for dry messes with small particles. Dust mops are also great for cleaning ceiling fans. String, microfiber, and spray mops are popular mop choices. String mops are the most common mop type because they have high absorbency. They are usually used with a bucket for holding the washing liquid and wringing out the mop. While common, string mops are not the most effective at cleaning floors. Microfiber mops are quickly becoming popular because of their high absorbency, ease of use, versatility, and longevity. They can be used as a wet or dry mop and are easy to clean. Spray mops are similar to microfiber mops but with a trigger to spray cleaning solution immediately ahead of the mop head. Rags can be used to wipe hands or surfaces of wet, oily, or sticky messes.

Scrub Brushes and Squeegees

Scrub brushes can have a short or long handle and are used to clean tougher stains or messes. They have stiff bristles for heavy-duty cleaning. Scrubbing brushes can be used in automobile cleaning, brick or stone cleaning and maintenance, chip removal, deburring, grease application or removal, applying cement, and more. Squeegees are a scraping tool with a rubber-edged blade attached to a handle. Typically they are utilized to remove liquids from a floor or window. Squeegees can also be used to control the flow of fluid on a flat surface.
