The SuperMax Tools 19-38 Drum Sander is an excellent sanding solution for woodworking hobbyists or small workshops. It features INTELLISANDâ„¢ technology, which prevents surface burns and gouges by automatically controlling the conveyor speed based on load. The SuperMax woodworking drum sander has a 110V, 20-Amp, TEFC 1-3/4 horsepower motor that drives the sanding drum at 1,740 RPM and a 0 to 10 foot per minute conveyor motor. Sturdy cast-iron construction reduces vibration, and a reinforced steel conveyor bed with less than 0.01 inches of variance ensures accurate sanding. SuperMax's variable speed drum sander is easy to use. You can adjust the conveyor angle and alignment using a few simple controls. The tension rollers have adjustable hold down and height settings that eliminate sniping. With a conveyor table that's 22 inches wide, the SuperMax 19-38 Drum Sander can do two-pass sanding on stock up to 38 inches wide. It handles pieces 1/32 to 4 inches thick with a minimum length of 2-1/4 inches. The SuperMax woodworking drum sander has a drum-shaped metal cover with a 4-inch vacuum port that provides excellent dust removal capabilities.

Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Major Time Saver! I have had this in my shop for about a month now. Set up was easy. I was able to set it up alone with a little help from an engine lift. However, It would have been better to have two people. The machine is solid, well built and operation is reasonably simple. It saves a massive amount of time for sanding on my projects. I do a lot of thin veneer down to .050" and it handles those flawlessly. The only negative for me was that it is very awkward to load the paper onto the drum clip on the motor side. It is not impossible but it takes a bit of practice to get it right. Overall, I am very happy I bought the machine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After reading the reviews on this product, I made the decision to go with the Super Max over the Jet. I'm glad I did, easy to set up and works like a charm. After a few trial runs you can learn the ins & outs of it in no time. Does a great job, extension tables are a plus, Cabinet doors came out looking great and beats hand sanding.Quality of the Super Max, the stand and wheels are top of the line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality machine. After many frustrating years of constantly adjusting my Delta drum sander I took the plunge and bought the Supermax 19-38. The sander arrived by truck freight. It was well secured on a pallet. Packaging was well thought out. After a couple of hours the sander was up and running. The fit and finish of the Supermax 19-38 is outstanding. This is truly a quality machine. With a few simple adjustments it was ready to go. After running a few scraps through to get the feel of the machine I sanded a 28" Walnut slab. It turned out perfect. The Supermax 19-38 has exceeded all my expectations. I'd write more but I've got a stack of guitar tops to sand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from really nice machine sander arrived in time for me to try it out on a pecan bar top I was working on. It assembled easily , and only took a few passes to get the hang of operation , the top pieces were 24" wide and 96" long , are beautiful now

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have it setup but have, other than a couple of test pcs, have not used it. The only issue when I was putting the sander on the stand the holes in the stand did not match the sander. I had to do a little grinding of the base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shop investment since Table saw! The SuperMax is one sturdy built machine. Very smooth running and no adjustments were needed. Works flawlessly! I wish I would have purchased much sooner. It saves days of sanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good deal, Lucielle I purchased this sander from ACME Tools. They sent it by truck, the trucking company called for an appointment, and the sander was dropped off within an inch of where I told the driver to put it. The shipping was free! The only thing that could have been better was they could have sent somebody to assemble and adjust it. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most useful tool in my shop The Supermax 19-38 arrived safely packed on its palette and I was lucky to have a friend help with the setup, because this little monster is solid and heavy. I build acoustic guitars requiring precise thickness tolerances. Thickness planning and sanding each part by hand is a very time consuming task and the 19-38 is a joy to use! The sander is extremely well engineered and easy to set up (with a little help of my friends...). I purchased feed tables, the casters (Yes, they're worth it!), and a few rolls of different grits, in order to get a feel for the sander. 80 grit seems about all I need because I always finish-sand the 3mm guitar tops by hand. Changing the sanding belt for the first time was a little nerve wracking: although I got the belt wrapped around the drum correctly, the motor side hold-down clip is not easy to access or even to see. Another start-up issue for me was dust collection: My dust collection hoses did not reach to the location of the Supermax 19-38 and I tried to make do with a mobile, powerful shop vac. That was not a bright idea, because the sander really needs the factory recommended CFM's for proper operations, otherwise you will end up with dust falling out of the machine everywhere and even onto your work piece during sanding. Initially I was also not sure about the default position of the "Fast Lever" and emailed customer support. I am happy to report that I got an answer within hours. All my start up issues were self inflicted, ignoring the manual recommendations, but I am now able to produce beautiful acoustic guitar parts literally in minutes. After two weeks of getting used to this machine, it is safe to say that the Supermax 19-38 is now the most useful tool in my shop!
