Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOOD EATING MONSTER!!! I bought this saw for a special project. I needed to cut through 3 inch thick custom laminated plywood. I spent the time to build an extended cutting table for my contractors table saw. However my table saw bogged down and tripped the breaker half way through the first cut. After some research I purchased the Sawsquatch. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I started my first cut. This saw didn't bog down that all. It plowed through 8 feet of 3 inch thick plywood with little effort. I'm impressed! Skil has produced a great product. The only drawback that I can find with this saw is the weight, but big wood requires a big saw so I'm can deal with the extra weight. Great job guys.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bad blade Haven't used it much yet but the blade is awful. A saw of this quality should come with a professional thicker 1/8" blade. Freud makes terrific blades but this might as well been one of those old ones you would get with a new saw that had no carbide, just a steel blade

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monster of a saw recently our company got a contract to build a private waterfront wharf.. We ordered marine grade pressure treated hemlock and pine.. the beams consisted of 12x12`s, 6x12`s and 6x8 purlins. We didnt want to have really rough looking cuts by using a chainsaw so the Sawsquatch was in order. The saw performed amazing cutting through such large timbers, mind you on the larger ones i had to make multiple passes on the 12 x12"s and 8x 8's but its far better than using a regular 7 1/4 saw. the motor didnt bog down one bit cutting through the lumber, in the 3x8 pine deck boards it cut clean through with its 3-11/16" cut capacity . Though weighing in at 17 lbs the saw is very balanced and glides along nicely. a few very nice extra features i liked were the rafter hook which allwed me to hook the saw on to sawhorses keeping it in arms reach instead of setting it down on the ground. The auxillary handle which screws on and off adds additional control when i made long cuts. The 2nd best feature on the saw for me was the bevel table which has 1 degree markings all the way up to its full bevel capacity. making much much easier setting a specific angle compared to most other saws which only have markings on 5 degree increments. The only flaw on the saw that i could find has nothing to do with Skil but with the Frued 40 tooth blade.. the stock blade is a 1/16th thin kerf blade, it does cut clean but with such a thin blade it warped after only moderate usage.. had it been a full kerf blade like frued makes for tablesaws or mitre saws the warping with be a non issue. All in all i highly recommend this saw to the proffesional timber framer, framer or deck builder

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Saw! Terrible blade choice! The saw is everything you expect from Skilsaw. I personally prefer the worm drive over a makita or milwaukee 10 1/4 saw, however I don't understand why such a thin kerf blade was put on a 10 1/4 saw! The blade deflection (wobble) is incredible. This saw will be amazing once a new diamond arbor 10 1/4 blade is made. Until then this saw won't be used for any precision cutting. Stick with a Makita or Mafell (different league) for making nice cuts on timberframe projects, this saw/blade combo is good for quick 6x6 and 4x4 cuts on decks and fences.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beast of a saw! I received my Skilsaw "Sawsquatch" SPT70WM-22 a while ago, since I have had the saw I have put it to a lot of use. I have built several decks using it, I use 6x6 posts for my deck supports and I cannot explain how nice it was to be able cut a 6x6 with 2 passes! For hand rail posts I use 4x4's - if you cut a 4x4 with a 7&1/4" saw you invariably get an ugly ridge from where you had to cut on both sides of the 4x...not with this saw, one cut and done! Out of curiosity I used the SPT70WM-22 to rip a soaked 6x6 post I had laying around. I set the blade at full depth and started cutiing - it plowed right through that 6x. If you are thinking about getting this saw I say go for it, you will not be disappointed.
