Planers are essential tools for many woodworking projects including door fitting, framing, or flooring. Using power tools in your carpentry projects diminishes the force you need to exert and results in a more professional finish.
Power planers generally have a maximum cutting width of around 3 inches, but some do offer wider cutting capabilities as well as the capacity to cut arches or arcs. All of our planers for sale are capable of cutting a depth of between 1/16 to 3/16-inch on a single pass, and they have easy to graduate knobs for accurate cutting depth. Some models of woodworking planers include chamfering, beveling or rabbeting options and with an oscillating multi-tool you'll easily achieve a professional look.
Reversible carbide blades offer longer blade life and are less likely to suffer damage when encountering a missed nail. Some models offer the option to interchange blades with more economical steel blades. Models with one blade remove the possibility of uneven planing through misaligned blades, however two-blade versions are more common and have greater planing speed. The guide can be mounted on either side of the blade and is made of aluminum, as are the shoes, to ensure perfect, precise cuts. With powerful motors, these electric planers will leave even the hardest of woods smooth, and a polisher adds the perfect finishing touch.
Planers have a central switch, operable with either hand, and a lock-on function for continuous planing. Most are equipped with chip collection bags and some have the changeable option of left or right chip expulsion. The comfortable cushioned hand grips permit a firm hold and a stand prevents damage to the blades and to the work surface. Add a power planer or a grinder to your work tools and really speed up your woodworking projects.
