Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best small tiller on the market Started up quickly, cuts through dirt well and still easy to control. Good engine strength. Recm'd buying pre-mix 1:50 gas w/o ethanol for this engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eats up rocks like a pacman Love my Mantis Tiller. I live up in the Appalachian mountains with tons of rocks. This little beast has no problem pulling up rock equal to its weight and sometimes it will toss them aside. Once in awhile a small rock will jam the tine. I just stick the handle of a garden tool on the rock and give it a wack with another rock and it pops out. I usually bust a few blade on the tines each garden season, when I do I call Mantas and they put another set in the mail for me at no charge. I actually have look forward to garden season every year because it is so much fun to use the Mantis. I was using ethanol the first couple of years but it destroyed the carburetor gaskets. I am on my second carburetor, but started using ethanol free gas and so far not one problem. I highly recommend this machine for small gardens, even in rocky soil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The absolute best tool in the shed So, I have had this product for approx 6 years. In that time I have used it to till my yard on two separate occasions. I have created pathways around the yard. I have tilled gardens for a couple of friends. I loaned my mantis to in rock hard soil. Most recently we have used the mantis to cultivate the soil around about 30 tree wells to make it easier to reform the wells. In other words, I've used my mantis so often that I have worn the blades down to the point of replacement. Not once did the mantis fail to start or have any mechanical problems. I often wondered if I might be overusing such a lightweight piece of equipment as my soil is quite compact, rocky and frequently hard, but as it has turned out, the Mantis can take it. I will say that there is a learning curve involved if you are used to using the , powerful, heavy, clumsy rototillers of old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 28 years old and still running strong We us this little work horse every year in the garden and preparing flower beds and berry patches. It has served us well for a long time. It's a Mantis 20 and our guess is that it was made sometime in the late 1980's.
