Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from UNDER RATED ROUTER I already owned two 1101 fixed base routers before I ordered the plunge kit. Don't get me wrong, I am not just a Makita guy. I own a 3- Bosch, 1 Porter Cable, 2 DeWalt, 1 Festool, 1 Craftsman, 1 Skil, 1 Hitachi, and 1 Black and Decker. The Makita is simply the most dependable, smoothest operating. I have used one 1101 in my router table for six or seven years. It has never been out of the table since the first day I put it in. These routers are apparently indestructible. But what I like most about the router is it has a good old fashioned switch and the plunge mechanism is smooth as silk. This is invaluable when routing dovetails with a jig. Would I like it even better if had a bright LED light? Yes, but it's durability, great switch, incredibly smooth operation are more important than the light. I rate this router far above all of the other routers I have including the Festool which is an incredibly over priced disappointment. I do wish Makita made a 8MM collet, but the Whiteside 1/2" to 8MM adaptor I use seems to hold the 8MM bits without slippage.
