Features

The J-41002 2 x 42 Bench Belt and Disc Sander leaves your pieces with a professional-looking smooth finish. This Jet bench sander's single-phase, 3/4 hp motor spins the disc at up to 3,450 rpm and runs the belt at 3,100 surface feet per minute. The disc's abrasive edge allows it to cut through wood and other materials, and to finish the edge as it passes by. The Jet bench belt and disc sander's table miters up to 45 degrees to make it easier to work with beveled edges. A heavy-duty cast iron frame stands up to bumps and impacts for a longer working life. The removable platten allows the belt to work with curved surfaces.

Customer Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but some tweaking required The good: First, this is a heavy tool. It doesn't slide around on my bench and feels well made, in general. Adjusting the belts and getting it to operate smoothly is a snap. The motor is relatively powerful and hasn't given me any trouble. I use it mainly for small woodworking projects (I make board games, cutting boards, small children's toys) and metalworking (I make stock-removal kitchen and bushcraft knives out of high-carbon steel.) With the right belts, it chews through anything I throw at it. The bad: The work platform and backstop for the belt are basically not usable as designed from the factory. The platform is impossible to tighten in a fashion that is level and only attaches on the left, resulting in instability. The belt backstop is a thin piece of metal with tons of give, making control of the stock a challenge. I've rigged up my own for both pieces out of scrap wood and steel, but if you don't have an appetite for that kind of DIY, caveat emptor.
