Features

The IRWIN® QUICK-GRIP® 3/4-Inch Pipe Clamp is ideal for large or heavy jobs that benefit from the extended reach offered by this type of clamp. Both halves of the clamp connect to the pipe using a clutch system; there's no need for threaded pipe. The clutch plates are also oversized to provide enhanced durability and better gripping characteristics. Irwin pipe clamps have taller and wider feet that provide stability to clamped pieces and more clearance between the tool's handle and work surfaces. They also have large handles that reduce the effort required to clamp parts and minimize hand fatigue. This Irwin pipe clamp has a 1-7/8-inch throat depth and fits any 3/4-inch unthreaded pipe.

Additional Features

  • Irwin pipe clamps handle heavy clamping jobs that require extensive reach
  • Unique clutch plate system eliminates the need for threaded pipe
  • Clutch plates are oversized for increased reliability and durability
  • 3/4-inch pipe clamp has large feet that offer greater stability and improved handle clearance
  • Oversized handle reduces hand fatigue and provides more clamping power with less effort
  • This product has a 1-7/8-inch throat depth
  • Use with unthreaded 3/4-inch pipe
  • Irwin pipe clamps have a limited lifetime warranty

Customer Reviews
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Design I bought these clamps because I heard the Irwin name was a great brand. Out of the ox they were useless! Not threading the fixed end allows it to free spin. Thought I was doing sonething wrong, when I tried to seat the pipe the clutch and spring shot out. Definitely taking them back in the AM.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly engineered product I notice one very old review that indicates this a great product. Maybe something has changed in manufacturing that is off spec. My experience is similar to the most current reviews .. the tightening end slips and slides off the pipe because the clutch pieces do not grip the pipe. The adjustable end works just fine. I experimented a bit and came up with a low tech solution. If your pipes do not have threads on the end you can wrap once around the end of the pipe with duct tape. This is just enough thickness and friction for the clamp to hold tight. If the pipe has threads than wrap the duct tape twice around. I would have thought that Irwin Tools would have engineered a solution to make this a quality product instead of suffering such dismal ratings. The actual solution for Irwin Tools is very simple but would require re-tooling of the mold for manufacture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another failure Apparently my experience is not uncommon to other reviews on this site. The no threat quick grip is an absolute failure. I have used many of the old style clamps and have never experienced this difficulty. An absolute disaster.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke on 2nd use I bought two sets of these for a project, I chose to buy a brand-name like IRWIN instead of a cheap knock-off brand as while I don't plan to use them much, I understand that quality tools are worthwhile. Used to hold some boards together. Overall project is to glue 4 boards together. Yesterday I glued boards 1 & 2 and let it sit overnight to dry. Today I was adding board 3 to the mix and notice that one of the clamps had already cracked. Looked at the warranty and while I suppose it's great that they are willing to replace the item, replacement with something I can maybe expect to work once isn't really that great of an option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not happy I assembled on pipe and tryed to turn handle and all it would do was spin around . It needs some way of locking down so it will not spin . I returned them . I will not buy a another till it is redesigned .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke on 4th use I bought a set of four of these about a month ago to go along with the old bar clamps (unknown brand) I got from my grandfather. I have used them four or five times. The threads are already showing wear on all four and I broke off the crank handle on one, all while the old rusted ones I had to clean up have worked perfectly. The whole threaded crank and handle appear to be made of cheap metal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from clutch system/ no threads..yuck! The clutch system instead of threads makes the tool weaker..why have a clutch on the fixed end? It can't move anyway. But now it slips which it never did before when it was threaded...big mistake, terrible design change...please change it back to threaded on the fixed end. The strength of this tool has been compromised by this new design. Purchased 4 had to return them..they don't hold like the used to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk bought 2 of the 1/2" #224212 for a project I was working on (hugh mistake) I have had one of the older models (the kind that you need threaded pipe) I have used over and over, but I needed a few more with longer pipe so I bought 2 of these. its true you dont need a threaded pipe, but you have these 2 loose fitting components that are flopping all over the pipe (if you have a pipe over 5 feet long you can't hold them in place) it is easy to hold one clamp in place on the pipe, but not two. I really like the older kind, much easier to work with. I will happily trade both of these worthless items for one of the older types (threaded). this is another classic example of an engineer being just smart enough to take something that works great and convert it to something that is worthless.
