5/32 In. x 3-1/8 In. Cobalt HSS Jobber Length Carded

Qty,

5/32 In. x 3-1/8 In. Cobalt HSS Jobber Length Carded

The IRWIN® 5/32-Inch x 3-1/8-Inch Cobalt HSS Jobber-Length Carded Drill Bit is an excellent choice for high-speed drilling through hard metal or other tough materials. The M35 steel with 5 percent cobalt used to make this bit resists abrasion and high heat, so you can use it to drill hardened or heat-treated steel. With a 135-degree split point that starts quickly and resists walking, the Irwin cobalt HSS drill bit lets you get to work with minimal preparation. Short cutting lips require less torque to cut high-tensile materials, and the bit flutes eject waste quickly so you can keep working without time-consuming restarts. This jobber-length drill bit has a straight shank that fits most standard drill chucks. It is 5/32 of an inch in diameter and has 2-inch flutes. Overall bit length is 3-1/8 inches.

Features
  • The Irwin cobalt HSS drill bit handles high-speed drilling in the toughest materials
  • M35 steel with 5 percent cobalt is abrasion resistant
  • Ideal for drilling hardened or heat-treated steel
  • 135-degree split point tip resists walking and starts cutting quickly
  • Short cutting edges reduce the torque required to cut hard materials

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cobalt Bits I' m a tradesmen working for my self so I need quality & durability. Irwin has both at a reasonable price. Cobalt bits are designed for harder metals like stainless steel so they are more brittle then other bits and do not tolerate any flexing .If you wabble them to widen a hole they will snap. You must use exact perpendicular force to the work surface or they will snap. So slow down the rpm but increase the pressure. Cool the bit down with water or use cutting oil they will last many times over.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cobalt drill bits Bought a new set of bits yesterday and I needed to drill6 holes through both 1/8" & 1/4" Angle iron bed frame material. The cobalt bits I bought failed miserably, could hardly get it done. Ended up having to step drill to get 6 - 1/4" holes through the material. I won't buy Irwin bits again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mr. These cobalt drill bits are the only thing that will drill into hardened bolts and metals. I have tried standard bits on hardened metal before not knowing what grade the metal was. The standard bit dulls almost immediately so I reach for the cobalt bits. They will sink on through the metal with no problem. The only cons are they are more expensive and they will break easily if you put force perpendicular to the bit instead of linear.
