Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good powerful saw Haven't used it more than 2 hours yet, but drastic improvement over the other two older chain saws I have been using. This was a gift to me and it came at the perfect time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with my purchase! I purchased the 460 rancher a couple of months ago because we needed another saw. Went down to my local husky dealer and finally decided on it and i could not be more happy. The 60cc motor does not stop. Maple, oak, locust it doesn't matter. The 3/8 inch chain is also awesome. a 325 chain just don't compare. i have the 20 inch bar on mine and its perfect for what i use it for. the oiler works good and the chain tensioner is slick too. I'm a young man so the weight doesn't bother me, but i won't lie it is a little heavy. don't let that turn you away though. for the price and what you get it is well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Torque Beast I've owned this saw for 2 years now and decided it was time for a review. Within these 2 years I've only replaced the chain twice, due to someone who believes the chain needs to be extra loose... Bad idea.. Anywho, this saw is a torque beast. I have used Stihl saws before and still do cause I like me variety. With that being said I was originally looking for the Stihl Farm Boss, the place I went to didn't carry them but carried Husqvarna instead. They showed me this 460 Rancher and needless to say it was ready to get back home and start cutting firewood! Straight out of the box it needs a break in period. I'd say about 2-3 months of cutting. All you have to do is fire it up and let it run for about a minute before rapping it up. After your first start up pull and idle no need to continue to do that whilst warm. This saw has taken abuse from a tree pinching the bar and rolling off of it, dropped a few times, and bounce around in the back of my pickup. No problems anywhere. This saw will cut anything and everything, wood related, you throw at it with ease. Cuts like a red hot knife through frozen butter. The title says torque beast. Your Stihls will rap up much higher on the rpm side, but this Husky will give you a deep roar when running. So much low end torque it ain't even funny! After owning for 2 years I would definetly offer this product to anyone, even my Stihl lovin friends! God bless!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cant ask for more I was thinking of getting the pro model saw thinking it might have more power but I was wrong this one had plenty. I had a smaller still that just would not handle the big tree that I had that had fallen this saw made quick work of a impossible job of my other saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bought this saw in February so I would have it for storm clean up, secure firewood and other uses. It was simple to assemble and started on the first try. I am use to chainsaws that are smaller yet weigh more with a lot more vibration. At the end of the day there is much less strain on me by using this saw. Another great thing about Husqvarna is their products are right up there with STIHL, yet much more reasonably priced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 460 Rancher I bought both a 460 Rancher and a 350 as I have had Huskys in the past, the last being a 266. I have always been happy with their reliability and performance. I ' am a little disappointed with the 460 however. I feel it is a little underpowered and heavy . I always prefer the 350 as it is lighter and cuts faster. Even cutting oak it out performs my 460 and with less fatigue. Lastly to add insult, it is always harder to start. I plan to try the new 555 for my felling saw. Hoping for better performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-around homeowner saw. I bought this saw to cut up a 42" willow that my 445 wasn't up to cutting. The saw is a little bit under powered for the 24" bar and chain, but will work if you take your time cutting. I have run the saw with the 24" B&C for about 5-6 years now. I just bought a 365 to run a 24" B&C so I will be installing a 20" B&C on the 460. They really scream with the 20". I don't have too many hours on the machine, maybe 100hrs. However, the saw has not had a hiccup since I walked out of the shop with it. If you are going to be just cleaning up a farm or cutting firewood this saw should work fine. I just use my saws for firewood. I mentioned above that I have a 445, that saw has been awesome for me. I have probably run that 300+ hours and have not even rebuilt it yet. Not bad for a home owner saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw While I have run Husqvarna chainsaws, and am very impressed by their performance, and I prefer them, there is one point I would like to bring up. Would it be possible for Husqvarna to come out with another saw (Carburetor) fed? And preferably in the 65cc range? The only reason I have brought this up is that you currently do not have one to compete with the Stihl ms 391. Maybe I am looking at it wrong and the 555 is the saw to compete with it, but some people like to have the ability to tune their saw. Just a Thought. Thank you for your consideration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Husqvarna Rancher 460 I have had this saw for over a year now and burn wood regularly thru the winter months. I was hesitant to buy the husky since all I have ever owned was stihl. At first, the saw was much harder to start than advertised however once the saw was worked in a little it starts with within two or three pulls every time. The power is pretty good and handles the 24 inch bar no problem but really this would be ideal with a 20 in bar. Its nice that Husqvarn gives us the option that other manufacturers do not. I will definitely be buying more Husqvarna saws

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a workhorse! I am coming from the consumer chain saws and needed a more powerful saw. Our Mcculloch 380 is also a good one for smaller jobs, but when it comes to more demanding job that saw is at its limits - not so strange, this is the saw is made for. To this 460 Rancher: The very first impression when it comes out of the box is impressive. It got the 24 inch bar completely assembled version. First handling is very good, the saw is heavy, but not too bad. Its well balanced. When you hold it at the upper handle it stays horizontal. The saw body is solid with being too wide. Its a nice and slim saw, but it still has its price due to the motor of 60 cc. The quick cover remover are no longer in place on this 2014 model. They have been replaced with 4 screws instead - previosly there was the quick replease snappers. not a disavantage. The clutch cover is made in Sweden and made in MG to save weight. When you remove the cover you find a big steel plate to hold the bar with the clutch over on the other - The McCulloch has just a tiny plate here. The Rancher is much more solid. The upper handle is held in grey color and tilted. Makes its really easier to hold. Its made in plastic, but solid made. Underneath the upper handle is the cylinder value to ease starting. Helps really since the engine displacement is not small. The bar librification is no longer automatic on the 2014 Rancher, its manual. The oiler is accessible from underneath. Symbols explanin very simple how to increase and how to decrease the oil flow. Generally more oil is needed on larger bars, less on smaller. The manual bar oiler is of advantage when you change between different bar length. It gives the fleibility to adjust the flow accoring to the bar. The 24 inch bar is huge. This bar is no longer a tiny consumer bar, its very solid. It takes 84 link chain. First tests show that this saw cuts wood like with butter. What a difference to the McCulloch. The saw is about 100 bucks more expensive as we 455, but its worth the money when you go for the 24 inch bar. Did not regret to extended my saws with this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No nonsense workhorse. Bought this saw to cut firewood here in France. Debated long and hard on the old chestnut Stihl or Husqvarna issue but then chose Husky for 3 reasons. (1) I have (or rather my ex.wife has) and still uses a Husky I bought about 30 years ago-it's only ever been serviced once and still starts 2nd or 3rd pull and cuts well. (2) I used to work in a sawmill using only stihl saws and I remember the problems I had with them.(3) There are at least 4 Husky dealers within about 15 miles of where I live. I do not regret the choice at all. Put the bar and chain on, fuel and oil in, started it on 3rd pull and put it straight to work. No problems whatsoever. 24 inch bar and ripped through 20 inch oak which had been down at least 2 years. IMPRESSED!!!!! Have since bought 18 inch bar and chain for smaller jobs. Looking forward to tackling some big trees soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great love this saw This saw is great it cuts great starts easy never had a problem with it you can use it all day with out a problem and is great if you are going to cut down big trees It's a little heaven but it's a big saw so it's understandable and has great power and with a perfectly sharp chain it will cut through nut like butter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WILL NOT OIL ! ! I bought this saw on it's reputation. Kill switch broke right away. Took back and fixed under warranty. Broke again in a week. Now, I choke to stop. Absolutely WILL NOT OIL ! ! I have replaced the plastic oil pump drive gear at least a couple of times. Last time I ordered two gears. figured I'd need them. I did. I carry a squeeze bottle to oil the chain. Dealer went out of business, so no warranty. Chain gets hot and then won't spin and won't cut. Out comes the squeeze bottle. Fill the gas, check the oil, . .still full from last time. Seems like a good saw, but hasn't been good for me. I'd like to sell it and get one that works. Like the chain tightener screw. That's cool. Why don't others do that ? Like the compression release too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I bought the 460 Rancher for firewood cutting and clearing of trees on my property in North Idaho. It has lived up to all my expectations. It was also priced lower than a comparable saw from the competition. Keep up the good work Husqvarna.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great ranch saw I bought this saw 3 months ago I've used it just about everyday since then, with a 24'' bar it's got power to spare, I have always used Stihl so this is a little slower then I am used to, but it has a LOT of torque, it's had problems idling no matter how much I tweaked it lately it's doing ok when first received it would die after 5 minutes regardless how high the idling was set, but I'm guessing that was just a new engine, other than that a suburb saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Saw for around the Farm Been a Stihl Guy in the past. Decided to just try something different. Excellent choice in the 460 Rancher. Starts consistently on the 2nd pull and to date have had NO issues what so ever with it. I am more than pleased with my choice. Local Dealer is great as well!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap Chain Brake Handle Rancher 460 Beware the cheap easy destroyed chain brake handle; Throw a chain and you will be replacing the chain and the handle, neither of which is covered by warranty. Other than that little detail so far so good; easiest starting chainsaw I have ever ran, whipped through a 20 inch oak branch like it was pine....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The product is easy to use Prefect chainsaw for any job. I wish I had purchase this chainsaw in the first place. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Priced well but underpowered. I purchased this saw for regular firewood cutting. Assembly was a breeze, I filled the fuel and oil tanks and it started on the second pull. Compression release is great and you need less pumps on the primer then the manual states. Fit and finish of the parts is nice and the controls are well laid out. As far as performance goes this saw is under powered as far as I am concerned. Cutting 20" logs is achievable but you cant really dig in with the cleat. I used a 372XP and wish I would have spent the extra $ and got the pro saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Husqvarna 460 Rancher I bought my 460 about 2 years ago. Like some others it leaked oil badly. Took it back to the local Husqvarna dealer here in Hobart, TAS and they kept it for a while and said it was fixed. Still leaked oil. Took it back again and they said there had been a recall on oil hose, said they would replace. Still leaked oil!! In frustration took it to my neighbour (retired mechanic - can fix any motor) stripped it down (as much as possible - sealed motor compartment) and placed some sealer around the mouth of the oil hose. It has hardly leaked a drop since. It was plain to see that the saw had not been touched by the service dealer. To sum up the 460 is a joy to use - powerful, light and starts first time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Decompression valve The decompression valve flew out of the cylinder. The threads on the cylinder are striped. This occurred less than 26 months after purchase. This is not covered due to the fact that the warranty is 24 months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw but ... I would recommend this saw but the chain oiler leaks when the saw is off. The saw was checked at a certified service dealer and I was told by the technician that there is no check valve in the oil tube and so the saw will leak. This is a design issue. The throttle linkage broke 5 minutes out of the box . This was easily fixed by the local service dealer but it makes one wonder about the assembly and inspection process used by Husvarna.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product I bought the 460 rancher for cutting firewood. It can tackle any firewood job. First job I used it I was sawing 20 inch oak and it did very well. Very easy to start warm or cold. The saw is light enough to carry all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long time Husqvarna owner Day four with the Husqvarna 460r . My husqvarna 45 did most of the work this trip out . There was still some stump work for the 460r , and it performed well . As you see there is no broken plastic or missing parts . Not much to report about this trip out so I'll leave it at working good , and running great . Day three with the Husqvarna 460r . This big White Oak Splintered and fell into a Large Red Oak . It was tricky , but we saved the big Red Oak from further damage . The rest of the job was up to the 460 . The 60cc Husqvarna made short work of this branch . as you know the splintered end can also be tricky . No problem for this 9,000 rpm saw . I kept the rpm's up , and no flying pieces . Still as you can see no broken plastic parts . It looks like my 1994 Husqvarna 45 might be finished at the repair shop . Next week should be awesome with both saw's . i'll keep you all posted . Day two with the Husqvarna 460r . This Oak is much fresher ,and greener . So far no problems on the 22" dry or green oak . As you see the plastic is still intact ( unbroken ) . Low vibration you better believe it . Good fuel economy , yep better than expected . Oh yea plenty of power I'm trying to find something wrong . The choke , primer button , chain , throttle , chain brake no none of these . Oh yea the kill switch ( stop switch ) . I found the switch in the stop position a couple times I know I lifted it . I'm sure it's to long and can be easily bumped down . I'm now aware of it , and a little more careful Day one with the Husqvarna 460r . This is a great saw . I made the right choice . The 460r has plenty of power . I had no stalling or stopping even on this very dry oak . This dry oak is the true test for saw and chain . Both passed the day one test for me . Oh yea not a gas guzzler by any means Jerry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Saw We bought an MS290 Stihl that turned out to be a total dud, no power, over heats and couldn't pull a 16 inch chain through white pine. Their lack of customer service was the icing on the cake, and all the online chat was about this saw was about the same problem. I bought this saw to replace it and wow it rocks, I am cutting 6 cords of fire wood a year. It handles Oak, poplar, cherry, and maple with ease. It has plenty of power and the 24 inch chain holds an edge well. I have cut 6 ricks in the last 6 weeks and only now need to sharpen the chain. best saw I have had.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw great value Bought this saw a few weeks back and have been pleased with my purchase. Mine came with the 24" bar and has decent power. Planning on getting a 20" bar for everyday use and keeping the longer bar for those big trees. This saw should be a real ripper with a smaller bar. Also have the 455R and 445 for a couple of years now. For the price they are hard to beat and just keep on running day after day.
