Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Had for about 8 months. Have cut various tree sizes, ranging from 4" to 16". It does the job without effort, the power is excellent for the work I have to do. The best part it starts every time, this is my third chainsaw. Never will I go back to the other models. Cannot go wrong with this chainsaw for those jobs that happen few times a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ;) Happy with my purchase, read other reviews and can't help but think there are some incompetent users out there that have no concept on how a small engine works. Have not used many other saws and read review after review in determing if this is the saw for me. The age old question stihl or husky it boils down to Ford or Chevy personal preference. Stihl Is a hundred bucks more for the 455 equivalent. So if price is the issue husky is the better choice. Have had my 455 for about 3 yrs with absolutely no problems as far as starting or running properly. Sat for over a year drained the fuel and started right up within 3 pulls 2 with choke then 1 will choke off. Only complaints would be I find myself adjusting the chain tension quite often and yes it most definitely leaks bar oil like a siv. But it runs and cuts like a champ and I find the cons can be over looked due to the performance and reliability

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rancher 455 Saw leaks chain oil like the cap is off. Power is OK but not great for the price. I would rate this with the "old" craftsman it replaced which cost ~40% as much. Chain brake will kick out sometime when taking apart, making it hard to reassemble. Very experienced do-it-yourselfer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nothing but trouble Had trouble with this saw from the get go.first problem couldn't keep chain on and once it popped off it was ruined.then when it is really cold wouldn't start.called husqarva and they said store it in warm garage and put it cab of truck as you drive to the woods.then I couldn't keep the saw running so brought it to be serviced had to put carburetor kit the fly wheel is gone.between air miles and shop time I don't get to cut my 5 cords of wood a year. husqarva was my saw of choice this is my 3 rd one now and is my no faith in them at saw was purchased in December 2011 and now it's going to be scrapped. And the dealer was a total disappointment, they wanted 3 weeks before I could get the saw in to be serviced

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional do it all saw! Replaced my 15 year old 350 with this saw. Starts right up. Tears through wood like butter. Throws big wood chunks where my old 350 threw saw dust. This is a serious tool in great Huqvarna lineage. You won't regret this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong saw, durable and long lasting. I've had this saw going on 5 years now, and it's been the best saw I've ever owned. Prior to this was a pouland and a stihl. Both would be difficult to start after a month in the shed, but not this saw. 8+ months later, and it fires up right away. Thirsty, drinks fuel at a pretty decent rate. Same with bar oil, but I have the oiler on max. I've buried the 22" bar in 36" rounds and worked my way through with minimal effort. I like bumper spikes being made out of thick steel, they dig in nicely and take a lot of labor out of it. I wish that chains lasted longer. I can take a new chain dull in a matter of hours cutting hard woods. I have 3 chains, one fresh, one at the sharpener, and one on the saw. They're husqvarna brand chains, and they just don't stay sharp. On top of that they're expensive. Also the chain tensioner seems to work it's way loose on me, there's no way I should need to tighten the chain after an hour of cutting. Also, when changing the chain I forgot to release the brake. So I released it with the side cover off. A tiny spring shot directly over my shoulder, out the garage door, and into a fresh 24" of snow that came down the night before. So it was gone forever and now I have no brake. I'd like to think the people that designed the working part and the people that designed the brake were not the same people. I don't use it every day, and the fact that it starts for me easily every time is nice, whether it sit for a week or 10 months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal saw for landowners I've got 6 acres with plenty of trees and this is the ideal saw for someone like me. Sometimes it sits for months (like 9 or 10) but starts by the 3rd pull every time. It's easy to maintain and clean. Best of all, with a sharp chain, it'll cut anything I can carry it to! Felling, limbing, cutting firewood... you name it, it can handle it. Somebody else said it here, but it bears repeating: it cuts like a beast! Do yourself a favor - get some quality hearing and eye protection. Better yet, get an all-in-one helmet/face shield/ear cover unit. Then go get 'em!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw Saw has plenty of power. I have a stihl 290 farmboss with a 20" bar also and there's no comparison.I can cut 2 logs to 1 with the husky over the stihl. I've had this saw since 2006 still runs and starts great, better now then when it was New.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go Get You One I have owned and used a 55 for 20 years . I cut firewood and clear . This saw is a beast. Yes it is heavy but its a saw. If you don't used good gas good oil and a sharp chain you will have problems with any saw. Keep the air filter clean. My saw will start on three pulls every time no matter the outside temp. Man up Nancy and get one or keep buying your refurbished $100 discount one time use saws. And stop asking to borrow mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from if yuor in the market read my review i have owned this saw for 15months,its a major overacheiver i have many saws, big 70cc -80cc;but i have 5 saws in the 59cc dept, this is 55 so close enought to compair, i hate to admit it but this little 55cc saw has bailed me out 100 times, always stars always runs and cut, well worth the money,it cuts as good as the husky 460,for a 100 less, you can fell good size 24inc diam, trees, buck up 12-20 inch logs ,its great for tops and branches, and very light, it wont cut as fast as the 590 timberwlf from echo, and id does has a lot of vibration, but i think its one of the best buys for the money, will do 90% of what ever you need, and it sounds mean when running'

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 455 RANCHER I have had 2 455 Ranchers and the same size comparable Stihl saws for over 5 years now. All 3 start by the 2nd or 3rd pull, Both seem to cut at the same speed or so close you can't really see a difference. I would highly recommend the 455 Rancher to anyone who is going out to buy a saw and wants professional performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great chainsaw Bought this saw to replace a craftsman saw that always had problems. Paid only 200 dollars on sale at tractor supply as they were going to discontinue carrying this brand put oil and fuel pulled twice and it fired right over have used several times since then works great every time would highly recommend to anybody looking for a saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw I cut firewood (14+ cords / year) for a couple of old widow ladies plus do a lot of timber stand improvement on 180 acres and other various chores for the chainsaw. I have one and purchased another as backup as I do not want to be on the hill with a broken saw. Pretty much the only time I have used the backup is when I get the other one stuck/pinched in a tree but that is usually my error. Start great even when I leave them outside in sub zero. Yeah they leak a little bar oil but most do and I am too lazy to vent the oil cap after a hard day of work. All the power I want and cannot really imagine needing anything better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two 455 ranchers both of these saws use bar oil running or not. It's best to run them to an empty tank then you don't waste as much. I got them because my Stijl 029 Farm Boss was the most unreliable saw I ever owned and an old Husqvarna 45 that I thought was worn out kept going for several years. They are very comfortable saws and have less vibration than other still and Husqvarna saws I've used. I've always used premium gas in my tools so fuel shouldn't be an issue. Three seasons for one and one for the other, if fuel is ever brought up when I have a problem, I'll buy an Echo next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 455 Rancher Chainsaw All my adult life I had cheap chainsaws and all the problems that go with them so when my last saw died I wanted something that would last. I did some research and decided on a Husqvarna, I wanted something with a ton of power and big enough to cut through what ever came my way. The 455 Rancher is all that... I love this saw it's great. However this fall I started seeing a puddle of bar oil under the saw after a few minutes of sitting, not sure what it's about but it's still under warranty. It may be nothing... I'll have to look closer before I contact Husqvarna.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work horse I had my 455 Rancher for about 5 years now and I cut 6-8 cord a year plus other misc stuff around the house. This saw is as reliable as the year is long. Everything still original except chain. Starts cold 3rd-4th pull everytime. Only problem in 5 years is just recently oiler stopped working. Found you tube video and was able to fix myself in 30 minutes. Never had a problem with bar oil leaking as some report. All I can say is....WORKHORSE! Love this saw!! considering one of their trimmers now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice saw, good price, great power! Read a lot of reviews before purchasing, and a lot of them said hard to start, I'd say it was about 4 out of 10 reviews were bad. A friend had one and said he loved his, so I decided to purchase it. While I don't have a lot of time on the saw, it been easy to start, even after running it and shutting it down for awhile, then trying to restart, it been fine to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Chainsaw I have had this chainsaw for five years now and has not mist a beat. Love the weight, power and ease of use. I use it around the house for medium size pine trees. I plan on having this saw for a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The right bar for the right job I have owned this saw for 5 years. The power head is very well built with lots of power as long as you maintain it. I live in Alabama and we have some very hard wood. I am originally from Washington state. I grew up on Stihl but I tried the Husky. I think the 20" bar and a 3/8" chain is a little ambitious for the type of hardwoods we have in the south. I believe it would be well suited for the Pacific Northwest. If you live in the South, get the 18" bar either 3/8 or .325 will work well for you. Remember to keep up with your maintenance and it will last you a life time!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saw is Good but the bars are junk I have a brand new 455 saw with a 20 inch bar that I used one time. The nose sprocket on the bar froze after going through maybe a half tank of gas even though it I greased the sprocket holes before I started. The bar sprocket won't move at all rendering the bar useless. I was under-cutting a 22 inch diameter log - dried wood, from a dead tree when it froze. I have been using chain saws for 40 years now from a number of different manufacturers and have never had this problem before other than with the Husqvarna bars in the last couple of years. I have a 445 Husqvarna as well that had the same problem with a 16 inch bar - the bar sprocket froze undercutting a log from a dead tree. Both of the saws have the 0.050 bars on them. Husqvarna has both 0.050 and 0.058 bars. Even brand new from the package the bar sprockets don't spin freely on the 0.050 bars so my guess is that either they are intentionally using the same bar sprocket on both the 0.050 and 0.058 bars or someone at the factory is assembling them with the wrong sprockets. I don't think the sprocket would freeze if all you were cutting was green wood but if you are undercutting dry wood be prepared to replace the bar. It's kind of frustrating to be cutting wood 15 miles from home when the bar freezes. Guess I will get an Oregon bar for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw After much debate over which saw to purchase, Echo or Sthil. I had never even considered the Husky as they called it in the shop, but after talking with the shop mechanic about the different saws, he recommended the Husky 455 as I wanted something with a little more meat to it. After one days use and fourteen trees, I feel as through this was the right saw for what I needed. It's well balanced, plenty of power and very smooth for a engine of this size. I look forward to using this saw for quite some time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, but not great I bought this saw to replace a Craftsman because it leaked bar oil like crazy when stored. Although this a lot more saw, it leaks at least as much as the Craftsman it replaced. I was under the impression that this was not an issue with the newer Husqvarnas, but apparently I was misled. My Stihl doesn't leak one tenth as much, and if I knew this leaked as much as it does, I probably would have spent the extra $50 or so and bought another Stihl.
