Customer Reviews
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not nearly as nice as the old model After using an older 8" Hitachi for years at work, I decided to buy a new one for myself. Out of the box it seemed great, but less than a month after getting it the dust bag ripped, then the bearing on the right slide fell apart. Shortly after the bearing died the pivot for the compound cuts decided to start binding.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the old 8.5 saw We bought this in the middle of a job to replace our old 8.5 saw which ate the armatur. It is light weight and the trigger has always suck on. Less power than the original (Japan not China like the new one). The only nice thing I can say is that the laser is a nice feature. The originals were great and fortunately we saved the old one which we will rebuild it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small shop I did a lot of research before buying a miter saw for my small wood shop. Many of the 10" models were less money, and were decent saws but were not sliders, and had an amp draw rating of 15 amps. My breaker panel is in my basement, and my shop is in a detached garage, so when I pop a breaker, I have some legwork to do. This saw is rated at about 9 amps (allows for some wiggle room for a shop-vac on the same circuit), has a great cutting capacity, and excellent reviews. It is perfect for the small furniture or hobbiest shop. Cost a little more than the "others", but very much worth the investment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lack of quality I litachi tools but fell this model lacks the durability to carry the name. I have worked with Hitachi tools for over 25 yrs and would rank them high on the list but the C8FSE 8-1/2" Sliding Compound Miter Saw needs to go back for redesign. I bought 2 saws at once and in a months time the brushes needed replaced on both. Then in another month the brushes when in one and had opened the gap on the plates on the armature causing sparks and eventually quit working. I need to take it in for warranty work as it is under the 90 day mark.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Value with some concerns This was my third purchase of Hitachi's 8-1/2" compound slide miter saw, going back to the 1990s. This latest version evolved into a product that feels less substantial than earlier ones. On the plus side, the fully wrapped guard around the blade is a neccessary plus. Did notice that manufacturing went from Japan to China. Accessory clamp is a joke when compared to previous version. Price is reasonable for what you get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The availabilty of an accessory lazer light would be an advanatage In addition to the above comment, a means to accurately determine the depth of a dado cut without resorting to running a test piece through the machine to make that determination would be advantageous. This could be done through an accessory. I found the base machine accurate and a delight to use. However, I have not experimented with all the various compound cuts available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 20 + years old and still cutting I have owned this saw for over 20 years. I believe I bought it when it first came out, or close to it. I am a finish carpenter and used the saw everyday, all day to trim houses. Easiest saw to use for trim I have ever owned. Dependable and low maintenance. Very durable. I gave the saw to my son-in-law, but I still grab it to use on some projects. I bought brand "B" and wish I had simply kept using my Hitachi. I may replace brand "B" anyway. Great saw.
