Drill Bits Sets Hammer, Percussion & Masonry Bits
We stock hammer drill bit sets designed to fit all makes of hammer and percussion drills, including bits designed for conventional three-jaw chucks, SDS and SDS-plus chucks, as well as 3-flat and quarter-inch hex shanks.
DIY masonry drill bit sets use a round shank that fits all conventional three-jaw drill chucks and are ideal for drilling holes in masonry. The drilling action is enhanced by the hammer function, which is available on most drilling machines, and it vibrates the chuck while drilling to improve penetration into masonry.
There is a tendency for the round hammer drill bit set to slip in the chuck, and an alternative design that overcomes this tendency is the 3-flat hammer drill bit set that has triangular shanks that don't slip but improve the drilling action.
SDS type percussion drill bits offer the fastest and most powerful drilling action and are capable of drilling through concrete and rebar. The special bit slides into the chuck and is held in place by a spring-loaded key. The benefit of this design of percussion drill bits is that the hammer action is transferred to the bit only. This allows you to drill holes faster and into tougher materials than is possible with conventional hammer drills. Rotary action is given by slots cut into the shank of the drill. There are two types of hammer drill bit sets designed for these chucks, SDS and SDS-plus, and it is important to select the correct type.
We stock drill bit sets for all kinds of drilling. These include auger and spade bits designed for drilling timber as well as Forstner drill bits that allow you to drill flat-bottomed holes in timber. And don't forget to check out our range of power tool accessories, which includes replacement chucks and depth stops for drilling machines, as well as accessories for all other types of power tools.
