Festool Domino Cutters
The cutters are bladed bits that are inserted into hand-held domino joiners. The joiners are power tools with an innovative rotating and oscillating cutting movement and equipped with a pivoting guide to cut mortises for Festool's textured, domino-shape tenons. The cutters, joiners and dominos together create a domino-joining system that provides non-rotating, durable edge joints for wood sxlabs, cabinets or furniture. The key innovation of the system is that mortising no longer has to be done at a fixed wood-joinery station.
The domino cutters are one component of an overall line of Festool blades. The bladed-bit cutters are carbide-tipped, strong enough to carve out between 5,000 and 14,000 mortises, depending on wood density. All are spiral-fluted to ensure precise, clean mortises, and they have internal threads to make them easy to change in and out of the domino joiners. The carbide-tipped cutters come in different millimeter widths to match the thickness of the dominos. The design and engineering of the domino cutters reflect all other blades for Festool power cutting tools, including planer, oscillating-saw, circular-saw and jigsaw blades. All lines include blades with unique cutting surfaces to maximize cutting ease and smoothness.
Festool's unique domino-joining system reflects its philosophy to make all project work as efficient and organized as possible. Festool's innovative domino tenons are as essential to the wood joinery process as the domino-joiner power tool itself. The carbide-tipped cutters link the two together into a cohesive system. Their cutting design, strength and durability make them an appealing accessory on their own. Getting a better look at what domino cutters are and what they do is a good start for a better look at all Festool blades, power-tool accessories and power tools.
