Empire Marking & Layout Tools
EMPIRE® marking and layout tools are companion instruments to Empire measuring tools and leveling instruments that let woodworkers, metalworkers and construction professionals complete their work accurately according to design specifications. The tools include not only instruments for transferring measurements but also devices for indicating layout parameters on construction sites.
The hallmark of Empire Level tools is their structural integrity and functionality. This applies especially to the entire line of Empire marking and layout tools. Layout instruments, including scribers, awls, centerpunches and compasses, consist of heat-treated polished steel with either hardened carbide tips or high-carbon steel blades, all precision ground. Empire plumb bobs are either solid steel or solid brass, each either plated or lacquered to resist corrosion. Marking devices, including stake flags, braided and twisted line reels and marking tape, come in an array of colors, including fluorescent so that measurements for structural elements are clearly visible on large-scale construction sites.
Other Empire marking and layout tools include magnets and magnetized instruments for a variety of tasks. Ceramic all-purpose magnets are useful for locating studs and picking up dropped parts and small tools in tight spaces. Empire magnetic sweeps help keep construction sites clean by lifting metallic debris that you don't want to suck into the metal canister of your shop vac, like shavings, nails, nuts, bolts and small machined parts.
A companion line to Empire marking and layout tools consists of Empire squares. They include T-squares, framing squares, tri-squares and rafter squares. Empire rafter squares are particularly strong and versatile. They are made of either solid extruded aluminum or rigid molded polymer, so they're rust and corrosion resistant. Rafter squares also contain all standard notches and graduations, including common table, degree, hip/val and inch markings. The graduated markings are either deep-stamped or laser-etched, so they're always easy to read.
Empire marking and layout tools will let you transfer measurement marks on any surface and lay out perimeters, corners and angles on any construction site. When you use these tools, you'll see why professional choose all Empire tool lines to make sure their project work is true and precise.
