Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw that I hope lasts a long, long time! PROS: + Hefty; doesn't vibrate. + 3HP motor chews through wood with ease + Front height & bevel controls are awesome, and have locking knobs + LARGE, easy to read bevel indicator + Wide throat plate & arbor lock button make blade changes quick & easy + The riving knife is a great feature; adjusts up/down and removes easily + Saw was set up very accurately out of the box -- blade to miter slots, 0 and 45 stops, even the miter gauge. Fence required a bit of tweaking to the blade/slots as expected. All the adjustments on the saw are easy to use to get things precise (minus aligning the 2 cast side wings, which is time consuming and tedious if you want them perfect -- but hopefully it's just a one time ordeal). + Blade is farther back on the table top, allowing more room at the front to get your piece aligned properly. Works better for using the miter gauge and table saw sleds. + Miter gauge storage on the side is extremely handy. CONS: - Saw does NOT rip 13-1/2" on the left, unless they mean when clamping your own fence to the table? With the included fence, max is 10" on mine, and even that is iffy. Slide it to 10-1/2" and the left clamp pad (HDPE?) is completely off of the square tube, meaning it's only going to clamp on the right side, which is absolutely useless, not to mention unsafe. The attached tape measure itself only goes to 12", so what's the deal with the 13-1/2" claimed rip capacity? - Beisemeyer fence is touchy to install at the perfect height -- They send a gauge to set the front rail height, but it's very difficult to get this absolutely perfect. The fence will "clunk" as it passes over the miter slots and the side extension table. This would eventually lead to damaging the face(s) of the fence if not corrected. I loosened the square tube from the front rail and shimmed between them with playing cards; problem solved. - Front "L" shaped rail on the Beisemeyer fence itself isn't completely flat on my unit. Once I shimmed as mentioned above to get the left side of the fence face so it was JUST above the table height to stop the "clunking", the right side has a larger gap. Shouldn't be an issue unless you're riding something with a sharp/thin point down against the table and over against the bottom of the fence, where it has the potential to slide under there and get pinched (which wouldn't be good!) NOTE: Some have mentioned their fence wasn't straight and it was made of subpar materials. Mine was perfectly straight and looks to be Baltic Birch; definitely high-ply at least. - Extension table is warped a little. I used the front/rear fence rails to force it "flat enough" for now, but I'll build a new side table in the future -- with the accessory drawer that SHOULD BE INCLUDED at this price point! - Extension table has (4) small bumps in it because the screws they used to attach the top were a TOUCH too long, or driven a hair too deep. They are minor, but it was enough to cause tiny cracks on the bumps, and sooner or later those are going to catch on something and get ripped off. Again, minor and I'll be building a new table anyways, but you expect perfection (or really close to it!) when dropping $2500+ on a tool. BTW, this "weird" surface on the extension table I have seen people mention on other review sites -- it's like a contact paper to protect the top from scratches during shipping; peel it off to reveal the smooth melamine. - Throat plate is bent/warped and was pretty much impossible to make sit dead flush to the table on all sides, even with adjustment screws. I pulled it out of the saw and twisted/tweaked it by hand, firmly tapped it a few times with a block and hammer, etc until I got it close enough. I will be ordering an aftermarket throat plate, or constructing my own. - Slight peel/bubble in the measurement tape/scale, but I rubbed it down and it seems to be sticking so far. This may seem like a long list of cons, but they are mostly minor. I'm not even deducting a star for the above issues because of the fact they can be corrected in the shop. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this saw again, and I would definitely recommend it to others!
